Sea freight is an option for furniture and larger household shipments. Discuss a dedicated container or shared-container service where available. Shared loads depend on consolidation arrangements; a smaller load does not automatically mean an earlier departure.
Air freight can suit selected belongings needed sooner. Confirm chargeable weight, dimensions, permitted contents and collection and destination charges before choosing it. Carry essential documents and medication with you rather than relying on the shipment.
Request a route-specific schedule after the inventory and freight method are assessed. Collection, packing, export processing, sailing or flight availability, Kenyan customs release and final delivery all affect the total time. A port-to-port estimate is different from the complete door-to-door move.
Your plan should show the expected milestones and explain how changes will be communicated. Do not book a property handover solely around an unconfirmed arrival date.

Import requirements depend on your residence status, the goods and the applicable customs process. Returning Kenyan residents and other people moving to Kenya should have their eligibility assessed individually. A relocation booking does not itself grant a duty exemption.
KRA’s guidelines for returning residents explain the conditions and supporting documents. KRA requires a licensed customs clearing agent for the returning-resident exemption and release process. Confirm the current requirements with the appointed agent before shipping.
Do not assume newly purchased goods, vehicles, commercial stock or restricted items follow the same process as used household belongings. Declare unusual contents before packing so the relevant requirements can be checked.

The written quotation should distinguish included charges from exclusions, provisional charges and payments to third parties. Confirm insurance terms and the agreed treatment of taxes before accepting.
Share your final Kenyan destination when requesting the quote. For Nairobi delivery, provide the building or compound, floor, lift availability and loading point. Confirm access permissions and whether furniture requires reassembly before delivery day.
